Day 3, To See What We Can See: Soul Tribe, continued

IMG_1354

Dear Friends,

Who are some of the “muddy angels” (to use Dr. Estes’ phrase) in your life —- people who you wouldn’t say are exactly people you want to emulate, but people who nevertheless cause you to think about soul?  People who might inspire you by their bad examples, or by just one or two aspects of their character?  Who was/is outrageous, but makes you happier to be a human being?  Who would never be canonized as a “saint,” but still is someone who inspires you to let your soul shine? List them or image them or their influence in your life.

With love,

Cat

This is the third of a series of daily prompts for written, visual, or art journalling, or just for pondering.  For more background information, see the Intro page https://catcharissage.com/2014/10/29/announcing-sixty-days-of-visual-journalling-prompts/, or this post on visual journalling: https://catcharissage.com/2014/07/12/talking-about-journals/.

I love hearing these kinds of stories — real life is sooooo interesting. I’m very glad to be a part of helping you find your voice. It’s helping me find my voice, too. I’m loving it! Cat

2 people came immediately into my mind as muddy angels for me Cat. One is a Nationsl Graphic magazine picture of an old man in a tattered, dirty white robe, bent over clutching a cane walking on a dusty road that I cut out and framed years ago back in the Viet Nam era. The other is my adopted baby brother who is gay and has used more drugs than most people ever see in a lifetime. His life partner died a coupla years back~ a slow painful death of psyrosis of the liver. My baby brother and I swam out into the gulf to release his ashes. We’ve been together for 40+ years. There is no one in the world who knows my soul better~ not my husband/ my best girlfriends~ he can make my soul shine like no other! Thank you, Cat for bringing muddy angels into my art journal. Thank you for this precious gift you are giving to me. Your blogs help me find my painting and writing voice. I deeply appreciate your time, care and concern and kind thoughtfulness!!!
